The Diocese of Qu'Appelle has been successful in applying for a Federal government grant under the Young Canada Work program for 2023-2024. The funding will be used to employ a Student Archival Assistant to carry out general archival and records management duties with focus on the arrangement and description of diocesan and parochial records. Synod of the Diocese of Qu'Appelle

Location: Regina, Saskatchewan

Compensation: $20.00/hour

The Archivist is responsible for the Synod of the Diocese of Qu'Appelle's archival and records management program. The Archives and the Archivist operate under Canon 17 and Regulations of the Synod's legislation. The duties of the Archivist are to appraise , acquire, arrange, describe, preserve and make accessible diocesan and parochial records.


Under the supervision of the Archivist, the Student Archival Assistant will carry out general archival and records management duties with focus on arrangement and description projects of diocesan and parochial records.


Skills and abilities:

- must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing;

- must be proficient in the use of computers and current related software and the internet;

- must be able to work with minimal supervision;

- must be a proficient researcher;

- must be courteous and tactful in dealing with the public;

- must pay attention to detail, be methodical and organized.


The Diocese of Qu'Appelle is an equal opportunity employer. This student archival assistant position is open to a full-time student who is returning to full-time studies in this fall of 2023. If you are offered a position of Student Archival Assistant you will be required to show proof of completing a full-time academic year (September to April) in 2022/2023 at a college, university or other educational institution.


Given the delay in posting this position, the employment start date will begin on a full-time basis on July 5th and end August 31st. The employer, however, is quite prepared to be flexible in having the position continue part-time into the fall and winter if the student is able to accommodate this work in addition to classes. We will work with you to bring about an outcome that is satisfactory to both parties.
